New Identity for SAAA

Perioperative Medicine and the future of anesthesiology is an important issue for the SAAA and its members. In March and April 2017, SAAA conducted an electronic vote by membership regarding a proposed name change to include Perioperative Medicine. The name change was approved by 80% of those voting. On May 5, 2017 the SAAA Council endorsed the results of this vote making the name change official. Our new name is: “The Society of Academic Associations of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine” and will be referred to by the abbreviation SAAAPM. Over the next few months SAAAPM members will begin to see the change in name of our Society reflected in our various communications, and printed and electronic materials.
